The Board of County Commissioners of Creek County (BOCC) met in Special Session on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., date and time duly posted.

Item #1: Meeting was called to order at 11:00 a.m. by Chairman, Newt Stephens, Jr. Roll Call Stephens present, Warner present, Whitehouse present.

Item #2: Statement of compliance with open meetings act-Chairman.

Item #3: Motion was made by Warner and seconded by Whitehouse to sign Resolution#2022-155 placing a 14-day burn ban in Creek County, beginning at 12 p.m. on October 13, 2022, pursuant to 2 O.S. § 16-26 with exceptions of Gas Grills, Charcoal Grills, and Smokers, if attended on concrete pad with water and Welding with pressurized water on stand-by and an observer is present. Covey Murray, Emergency Management spoke about the current weather forecast and current drought conditions. Our County has moved into the Extreme Drought conditions, along with Exceptional conditions within our County. I have contacted the Fire Chiefs and the majority is in favor of burn ban. There was discussion of the length the ban should be in effect. Murray stated today we are currently in the Red Flag High Fire danger. Murray spoke about the last three fires in Oilton, Sapulpa and Kiefer. Stephens discussed if we receive enough rain fall, we can always cancel the ban, as well. Murray spoke briefly about the permit process with local fire departments, as well as adding the welding language to the ban. Stephens asked that the Sheriff inform his Deputies of the exceptions within the ban, as well. Warner asked that this item be reviewed on the 10-17-22 and 10-24-22 agenda. Vote as follows: Stephens - Aye, Warner - Aye, Whitehouse - Aye.
