The Board of County Commissioners of Creek County (BOCC) met in Emergency Session on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 2:15 p.m., date and time duly posted.
Item #1: Meeting was called to order at 2:16 p.m. by Chairman, Newt Stephens Jr. Roll Call Stephens present, Warner absent, Mike Anthamatten setting in as First Deputy, Whitehouse absent.
Item #2: Statement of compliance with open meetings act-Chairman.
Item #3: Commissioner Stephens skipped the Pledge of Allegiance and Invocation.
Item #4: Motion was made by Stephens and seconded by Anthamatten to declare emergency for repairs for replacing or repairing an air-conditioner at the jail and waive all purchase procedures, as per Title 25 O.S § 304(5) and Title 63 O.S. § 683.1 eq. Stephens stated they were notified by Under-Sheriff Joe Thompson that an air-conditioner compressor had been punctured by maintenance worker. We have called our vendor; they have quoted $12-$14,000.00 to repair part. Current part has been found in Florida, but we will be working with other companies to see if they can find the part. Stephens asked if the inmates affect have been moved to a new pod, so that we are following the requirements by law. Thompson, stated we are in the process of that, hopefully this does not create a housing issue and we can just relocate inmates to different pods. We are doing everything required by statute. Vote as follows: Stephens - Aye, Anthamatten - Aye.
